Fresno Unified’s teachers union voted to strike late Tuesday after failing to reach a contract deal with the school district following 14 months of negotiations.
The unions members cast their vote to strike at People’s Church in Fresno.
Despite constant media appearances by Fresno Teachers Association and Fresno Unified leaders discussing the contract impasse, the much-hyped vote has no immediate impact on the district’s operations, reports KSEE24’s Evan Onstot:
Fresno teachers have voted to authorize a strike, per @MacielOscarJ. More negotiations are underway– strike is NOT imminent.

However, Fresno Unified has held steady in its upgraded strike response: a dramatically increased substitute teacher pay day.
